PassportPhoto provides a photo-cropping tool, a print-sheet generator and related explanations for general informational purposes. This page exists because honesty about limits matters more here than on most sites — please read the two short sections below.

This is a heuristic check, not an approval

The tool measures what software can measure: pixel dimensions, crop proportions, the crown-to-chin distance you mark, the brightness and evenness of edge pixels, file size and format. It cannot judge facial expression, shadows on the face, glasses glare, photo recency, head-covering rules, retouching, or any requirement that needs human or consular judgement.

A “pass” result means no common technical problems were detected — nothing more. Only the issuing authority can accept or reject a photo, and their automated validators and human reviewers apply rules we cannot fully replicate. No website — this one included — can guarantee acceptance, and you should be skeptical of any that claims to.

The rules themselves move

Passport and visa photo requirements change — India moved to an ICAO spec in September 2025 and older guides are still catching up — and published figures sometimes differ between an embassy page, a regulation and a portal’s fine print. The specifications encoded in the presets and collected on the requirements page are representative, current as of late 2026, and not authoritative. The issuing authority’s own current guidance always wins. When the stakes are high — a visa deadline, a renewal appointment — check the official source directly.

No warranty; not affiliated

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We test the tool across formats, sizes and edge cases, but we make no warranty that it is error-free or that a photo passing its checks will be accepted. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PassportPhoto and its maintainers are not liable for losses arising from use of the site — including rejected applications, missed deadlines or re-shoot costs. PassportPhoto is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government, passport office, consulate or visa service.

Your photos, your responsibility

Because processing happens on your device, your original files stay under your control — keep them. A downloaded photo is not a stored photo: nothing here saves a copy, so don’t delete the original until the application is done. And when you print, measure one photo with a ruler before relying on the sheet — printer scaling is the one step we can’t check for you.
