Three steps to a compliant photo
Drop in any decent photo — a phone shot against a light wall works. Pick the document preset and drag the crop box until your head sits inside the guide band: the box is locked to the document’s exact proportions, and the band is sized to its head-height rule. Download the photo file (exact pixel dimensions, JPEG or PNG) and the 4×6 print sheet, ready for any lab.
What the tool checks for you
Five measurable rules run on every crop, shown live under the preview: output size (exact pixels per the published spec), print resolution (the effective dpi your crop provides — 300 is the lab standard), head size (crown-to-chin against the document’s band, measured from two clicks), background (edge sampling for a plain light tone) and file size & format (against the portal’s upload window where one exists).

Private by design
There is no upload step anywhere in this tool — which matters more for a document photo than for almost any other image. Your file is read by your own browser, drawn on a canvas, measured and handed back as a download. Disconnect after the page loads and every feature still works. The privacy policy spells it out.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No — and that's the point. This tool is JavaScript running in your browser tab: your file is decoded, cropped, measured and re-encoded on your own device. Load the page, switch off Wi-Fi, and it still works end to end. Nothing is transmitted, stored or logged; see the privacy policy.
Which document specs are covered?
Eight presets: US passport & visa (2×2 in, 600×600 px), India passport (exactly 630×810 px — the ICAO spec mandatory since 1 September 2025), India e-visa (square, ≥350×350 px), UK passport (35×45 mm, ≥600×750 px), Schengen/EU visa (35×45 mm), China visa (COVA digital window 354–420×472–560 px), Canada passport (50×70 mm) and Australia passport (35×45 mm). The requirements table lists each spec's numbers and source year.
How does the head-size guide work?
The crop box keeps the exact proportions of the selected document, and two dashed lines mark where the crown of your head and your chin should sit — the band between them is sized to the document's allowed head height (e.g. ~71–80% of the photo for Schengen/India ICAO, ~50–69% for the US). Position the crop so your head fills that band, and the head-size rule — the most common technical rejection — is handled by construction. What does the 4×6 sheet download give me?
A 1200×1800 px image (true 300 dpi) with your compliant photo tiled as many times as a 4×6 print holds — six US-size photos, eight 35×45 mm photos — plus dashed cutting guides. Upload it to any photo lab or kiosk like a normal 4×6 print; at typical lab prices the whole sheet costs less than one pharmacy passport photo. See the printing guide.
Will a 'pass' on every check guarantee acceptance?
No — and be suspicious of any tool that claims it. We measure what software can measure: crop shape, resolution, head height, background tone and file size. Expression, shadows on the face, photo recency, glasses glare and retouching are beyond any checker. A pass means 'no common technical problem found' — the issuing authority always decides.
My photo came out sideways or too small — what now?
Sideways phone photos are fixed automatically (EXIF orientation is honoured on decode). Too small means too few pixels: the resolution check shows the effective dpi of your crop — if it's under 300, use the original full-resolution file rather than a messaging-app copy, which is heavily downscaled.
Can I make photos for babies and children?
Yes — same tool, gentler rules. Most authorities relax the rules for infants (the UK doesn't require under-1s to have eyes open; the US accepts that newborns can't hold a pose). Lay the baby on a white sheet and shoot from above. The baby photo guide covers the details per country.
